Here is what it says under group registration for the St. George marathon:
Group Registration - Runners can register as a group of up to 5 runners. Each member of the group should fill out their own individual registration application. On the second page of the application there is a field for "Group Email". Each member of your group should enter the exact SAME email address in the "Group Email" field. The group will be entered in the lottery as ONE. If the group is selected, the entire group will be in the race. If the group is not selected, none of the runners are in the race.
Registration opens April 1st. Run is October 3rd.
Do we have at least 5 who want to register and should we register as a group or go individual? I say we go for broke and register as a group - if we have at least 5 who want to run it. I'm in and I can see if some of my runner friends/family want to do it. Lind, it sounds like you're in, too. Anyone else up for 26.2?
Im slow, but I still dont get it...Is it your understanding that we will get 5 tickets in the lottery, and if any one of us is chosen, then all the rest of the 5 on our group email will also be chosen? Or is it your understanding that the 5 of us only get one ticket in the lottery? I guess either way, we get at least one chance. So it cant be a bad thing. Im totally in!
ReplyDeleteI'll do it. Yes, this is a 180 from my statements of less than 6 months ago, but I swear I wasn't lying when I said I would never do a marathon, I didn't really think I would when I said that. So Lisa, want to do it with me?
ReplyDeleteIf I'm going to run a marathon this is the one I want to do, and it would be super fun to be there with a group of friends. The only problem is training in the Arizona heat. September is brutal! When would we find out if we got in?
Yay Cynthia - you've just committed to your first marathon!! How do you feel? St. George marathon will not disappoint - bonfires at the beginning to keep warm, scenic, staff are very prepared, crowd support, - it will be fun!
ReplyDeleteIf we register as a group, the five of us will get one ticket in the lottery. Registration closes May 4th so I would think we would know pretty soon after the 4th whether we got in or not.
We have three so far, two more to go.
I just re-read the group registration info again and it said we can register as a group up to five runners - so it sounds like we don't even need five people - just no more than five. So, if it's just the three of us it's still a go! (Is that what it sounds like to you, too?)
ReplyDeleteYahoo!!! Cynthia! I am so excited! I once said Id never run a marathon. Changing my mind was a GREAT decision!!! This is so exciting. I REALLY hope we get chosen!
ReplyDeleteMarcie, thats what it sounds like to me- and I think Ive heard people say they entered the drawing with (only) 1 friend. So here we go!
But I still can think of a few people who need to sign on for this trip. You know who you are!
And Im going to need lots of support to keep doing long runs when the weather gets scorching hot here imbetween June 12th and August 12th!!!
